At the end of the right aisle towards the transept, we find ourselves in front of the oldest part of the complex: the Chapel of the Crucifix. It is believed that it is built on the original site of the Lombard church dedicated to St. Anastasia.
The outer wall fabric confirms the attribution to the late 13th century chapel of the site. Inside, on the left, there was the tomb of Gianesello da Folgarìa, a nobleman from Trento who died in 1427. The artefact, from the 15th century, depicts an emotional Deposition surrounded by eight polychrome busts representing the apostles, and was originally located between the counter and the beginning of the right aisle. On the altar there is a wooden crucifix of the 15th century. On the arch outside the chapel St James is painted, patron saint of travellers and used as the crest for the Pellegrini family.
