The second chapel on the left is dedicated to St. Erasmus, a martyr under Diocletian, who was killed in Formia in 303.
Owned by the Faella family, it was carried out in 1520 by Francesco da Castello, son of the stonemason Pietro da Porlezza, creator of the floor of the Basilica of Sant’Anastasia and of the decoration of the second chapel on the right. The altarpiece that adorns the altar is the work of Niccolò Giolfino and represents the Redeemer in Glory with the Saints Erasmus and George and depicts, at the bottom, in front of the background the martyrdom of St. Erasmus with a winch, and the two commissioners of the piece Bonsignorio and Giorgio Faella.
